Questions

What is a Recumbent bike?

A recumbent bike is a bike with a lower stance, feet forward riding position with a big seat base with a back rest in either arms forward above seat steering (ASS) or handlebars beside you or under seat steering (USS). Some have the pedals out front of the front wheel some behind the front wheel with the crank lower, level or higher than the seat.

All this adds up to a comfortable ride with no pain in the butt, hands, neck or shoulders. These bikes offer superior aerodynamics over upright bikes and power transfer to pedals into the back wheel due to pushing into a non movable object, the seat.

There is a small learning curve in the beginning but once mastered you'll be surprised at the pain free riding experience.

What is a Recumbent Trike?
Recumbent trikes have a special appeal to the touring crowd. The recumbent trike always provides its rider with a convenient place to rest and, the carrying capacity is great. Your fully loaded trike won't fall over either! The recumbent trike also appeals to riders with balance problems.

There is no learning curve you can ride one instantly. You can climb steep hills and when its time to rest, there is no need to get off the trike; just stop anywhere and relax.
There are two types of recumbent trike designs. http://www.catrike.com/

TADPOLE
a trike with 2 front wheels and 1 rear.

DELTA
a trike with 1 wheel in front and 2 in the rear.
